Making a
Simple Card H/O
This Workshop
shows students how to prepare a simple Christmas card using Microsoft Publisher
2002. Full instructions are included in the notes on how to use the program for
this purpose and a CD is supplied with Clip Art suitable for many occasions.
Instructions are included on printing the card and students are able to print
their card prepared as part of the Workshop.
Making a
Slideshow* H/O
Prepare a slideshow with movement,
transitions, music and narration. Burn the completed slideshow to a
CD for showing on any computer or DVD player.

Vinyl and Tape to CD Demo
Many members will have
old vinyl records that can no longer be played, but which they would
love to hear again. This Workshop shows how to transfer the
soundtrack to a CD; and even shows how to edit out hissing and
scratches!

this Workshop shows how to cut, edit, and enhance scanned or digital photos.

Microsoft PowerPoint, part
of the Office Suite, is a presentation graphics program that creates
slides which can be shown on a computer, presentation projector or
sent by E-mail. The Speakers at the SeniorNet Canterbury Social
Meetings frequently use this program on the projector to illustrate
their talk. This Workshop covers the creation of slides with text,
graphics, animations, photos, clip art and sound.
Printing
Photos
H/O - Do you know
how to use your printer to its full potential? Would
you like the option of printing 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 images to an A4 page and for them to be
re-sized automatically? If so, this is the
Workshop for you. Kodak Picture Easy is the
program used, and those attending the Workshop will be given a CD so the program can be
installed on their home computers.
Printing
and Printers Demo
This Workshop discusses different types of printers, what to
look for when purchasing one, installation and set-up on the
computer; ink cartridges manufacturers
originals/compatibles/refills; types of available paper;
photographs which program to use/using the Printer Wizard;
setting printer options to achieve the best print, plus printer
maintenance cleaning the heads and producing a test print.
Removing
Objects from Photos*
H/O
Frequently, photos
taken have an unwanted object, i.e. lamp post, post box, etc. in
front of the subject or a sky that is over-exposed and colourless.
This Workshop uses techniques in the Photoshop Elements 2 program to
remove the offending object or change the sky to one more suitable
and interesting
This Workshop is suitable for people with File
Management skills and a little experience with a photo editing
program.
Scanners* -
H/O - This Workshop uses
PhotoStudio 2000 and Omnipage 9 to scan and save an image or document, how to edit and
save a scanned document, and how to use a Scanner for slides/film negatives.
Skype
Demo - This program
uses your computer and the Internet to make telephone calls to anywhere in the world,
including video calls. Calls to other SKYPE
users are free and calls to ordinary telephone connections cost about 3 cents per minute.

Demo - Learn how to use online auction
sites, including Trade Me.

Using a
Digital Camera
Demo - It is
suggested you have handled a digital camera before attending this Workshop, where you are
shown how to use your digital camera and download the images to your computer. Then, using printing software, you are shown how to
print those images to their full potential.
Using a Laptop
H/O
This Workshop could be of
interest to those who have a Laptop running either the Windows Vista
or Windows 7 Operating Systems. A separate Workshop is available
for those running Windows XP. The Workshop covers the functions
unique to a Laptop and helps people to understand the differences
between a Desktop and a Laptop. Members will also be shown how to
start up and shut down the Laptop correctly, to use the FN key, and
to install and uninstall programs.
Download Pictures from a Digital Camera to a Computer

For this two hour Hands-on Workshop
students will bring their own digital camera and learn how to download pictures
from your camera onto the computer. Covers creating and organizing
Picture Folders on the computer. Connecting the Camera to the
Computer; Using a USB Card Reader. Download Photos using Windows Explorer
and Picasa
Excel
for spreadsheets and databases.Hands On
This workshop has been introduced as members asked to learn about spreadsheets,
but do not wish to spend 4 weeks in a course. A simple spreadsheet and a
database will be prepared so that the principles of these very useful routines
can be learned.
